Most of the letters from elected officials that come addressed to this house are full of excuses and non-answers. In February 2021, when he was still in first grade, my son wrote a letter to President Biden, and today he got a letter back from the White House.
I thought it was great for him to see that his voice matters in some tangible way. (Meanwhile, this mama will still keep pressuring Biden to also be fearless and do the right thing for climate and domestic issues.)

Dear Ethan,
Thank you for sending such a kind note. Your support means a lot to Vice President Kamala Harris and me.
Our country faces many challenges, and the work we have ahead of us is going to be really tough. I’m certain that we can come together as a Nation and create positive change. It won’t be easy, and I’m going to need your help.
Even at your young age, you have the power to impact the future for your generation and generations to come. I urge you to remain curious, creative, and fearless.
I wish you the best in the years ahead and look forward to seeing where your future takes you. Study hard. Keep challenging yourself. And be kind.
Sincerely,
Joe Biden
